Human-Centered Environmental Architecture
Ashara Living builds luxury wellness homes along the coast of Orange County. We believe the places we spend our lives should actively support the people within them. Every home is designed as an environment for human health, longevity and a better quality of life, without compromising beauty, architecture or the experience of home.
This is wellness built into the home, not added to it.
What you cannot see is where Ashara begins.
We design, build, test, and verify the conditions behind the architecture.
Four principles form the foundation. Each is structural to the whole. Click a layer to explore.
Every material, system and space is considered for its impact on the body and mind — cleaner air, cleaner water, natural light and healthy materials.
The person living inside the home is part of every decision.
Our homes work with the natural environment — light, air, water and place — to create balance, not fight against it.
Designed in relationship with light, air, water and place.
Beauty and wellness are backed by measurable performance — from air and water quality to thermal stability and acoustic comfort.
Performance should be felt, not showcased.
We design and build for generations — with enduring materials and architecture that outlasts trends.
Built to age well — in material, function and experience.
Each residence is different. The discipline behind it stays consistent.
Quiet mornings. Family dinners. Birthdays. Recovery. Ordinary days that become memories.
We build homes we would want our own families to live in.

These are research findings, not Ashara performance claims. Building specifications belong to The Ashara Standard. Measured results belong to Ashara Labs.
Before a home can meet the standard, the standard has to shape the home.
Four stages govern the work, in sequence. Each one establishes what the next has to resolve. Every Ashara home passes through all four, in order.

Define what the home must do, before design decisions begin.

Establish the environmental conditions the design has to account for.

Translate those conditions into requirements the architecture, systems and materials must meet.

Determine how those conditions are maintained and adapted over the life of the home.
How outdoor air enters, indoor air leaves, and air moves through the occupied rooms between them.
A house is a container of air, and the people inside it breathe that air thousands of times a day. Very little about how it behaves is decided by the occupant.

How water enters the house, moves through its plumbing and fixtures, and is managed after use.
Water in a home is not only what is drunk. Showering and bathing put it against the largest organ of the body, and into the air being breathed.

How architecture admits daylight, and how electric light takes over when daylight recedes.
Light is not decoration. It is the primary signal the body uses to set its internal clock, and most of it now arrives from fittings rather than the sky.
The receptor that tells the body what time it is is not one you see with. It peaks at 480 nanometres. Source: Melanopsin peak sensitivity · 480 nm.

How walls, floors, ceilings, openings and mechanical systems determine what sound reaches a room.
Noise does not need to wake a person to affect them. The body responds to sound during sleep whether or not anyone remembers hearing it.

What the building is made from, layer by layer, from visible finishes to the materials behind them.
Every surface in a house was selected once and then lived with for decades. Those selections continue to interact with the air long after construction ends.

How the envelope and building systems manage heat as conditions change inside and outside the house.
Comfort is usually treated as a thermostat setting. It is decided far earlier than that, by the enclosure itself.

The Ashara Standard is what a home has to meet before it carries ours. It governs how the house is designed, how it is specified, and what we will and will not put our name to.

Five requirements. No exceptions.

Every Ashara home uses materials selected for emissions, durability and their effect on long-term indoor environmental quality.

Every Ashara home integrates air, water, light and acoustic systems as coordinated parts of the architecture.

Every Ashara home is designed around an envelope and mechanical strategy that limits unwanted temperature variation between spaces.

We do not allow environmental technology to dictate the visual experience of the architecture.

Every Ashara home is designed with materials, assemblies and systems selected for maintainability and long-term performance.

We are not treating people. We are designing the environment the body lives in.
To redefine residential architecture by designing homes that support human vitality, wellness and longevity. Our vision is a world where the places we live actively support how we feel, function and thrive.
Light, sound, air, water and materials directly influence how people live, feel and function.
Small environmental inputs can meaningfully affect recovery, vitality and long-term wellbeing. Air that is never changed. Water no one has tested. Light that never matches the hour. Rooms that are never quiet. None of it is medical. All of it is architectural.
Ashara Living exists to build that into the home — residences where material choice, layout decisions and environmental systems are intentional and aligned with human health.
Root-cause medicine for longevity. Newport Beach.
Ashara Health is our doctor-led longevity practice in Newport Beach. We look beyond symptoms to understand the systems, exposures and patterns shaping health — bringing advanced diagnostics, naturopathic and functional medicine, Eastern medicine, hormone care and regenerative therapies into one coordinated approach.
Air, water, light, sound, moisture and the materials surrounding us are part of the environment people return to every day. Yet the home is rarely considered as part of the health equation.
Treatment can only go so far when the environment itself remains unchanged.
Health looks inward. Living looks outward. Both begin beneath the surface.
Research, testing, verification, materials and the partnerships that stand behind them.
Every number Ashara publishes about a home has to come from somewhere. Ashara Labs is where the testing is specified, the materials are assessed and the results are recorded before anything is said in public.
How a home is lived in once the building is finished.
The conditions a house holds on the day it is handed over are only kept if someone keeps them. Ashara Lifestyle is the part of the company that stays with the home. Home Care sits inside it as a service.
The research and verification arm behind the Ashara Standard. Targets are labelled as targets. Specifications as specifications. Models as models. Results only when they have been measured.
A design research lab whose work is the removal of harmful chemistry from building products, and the education of the people who specify them.
The Healthy Materials Lab has spent years asking what goes into building materials. Ashara is asking what happens when that question is carried through an entire home.
Adhesives. Sealants. Underlayments. Finishes. The parts of a building most people never see begin as material decisions.
The Healthy Materials Lab exists to make those decisions more legible — through research, education, a materials library and published collections focused on what products are actually made of.
Ashara Labs is working with the Lab to extend that scrutiny into a finished residential project. The precise form of that work is still being agreed.
What matters is the direction of travel: not a certification bought from an organisation built to issue one, but a research body applying its expertise to the house itself.
Documentation, not brand language.
What was measured in the completed home, where it was measured, by whom, and under what conditions.
A clear record of what was a design target, what was specified, what was modelled, and what was confirmed in the finished building.
The materials and assemblies selected, the basis for their selection, and the information used to assess them.
The outside institutions, laboratories and specialists involved, and the scope of what each was engaged to do.
There is deliberately little here today. The first Ashara homes are still moving through design and construction, and we will not present targets, specifications or models as completed results. Evidence appears here only after the underlying work has been done.

Ashara Labs works with institutions, laboratories, material researchers and technical specialists whose methods can withstand scrutiny. Where there is a relevant body of work, a credible method, and a reason to apply it to the built environment, we want to know about it.
A few lines on the method and why it applies to the built environment are enough to begin.
The earlier we are involved, the more completely the home can be considered as one system.

The starting point varies. The standard does not.

You have the land and nothing is drawn. The six pillars shape the plan from the first line.

Drawings or permits exist, or work has begun. We look first at what can still change, and say plainly what cannot.

Ashara develops the site alongside you and shares in the outcome. The terms are a conversation, not a page.
A homesite. A vision for a private residence. A property with potential. An investment opportunity. If you believe it could become something exceptional, let’s talk.
We work with homeowners, landowners and investment partners to develop and build Ashara residences from the ground up.
